Hazards Of Perm
The main component of hair is protein. Compared with other proteins, the properties of hair proteins are less active. But hair is sensitive to boiling water, acid, alkali, oxidant and reductant. In the process of perm and hair dyeing, we should use some oxidants and reductants, which are acidic or alkaline chemicals. Hair may also be exposed to water vapor for a long time during this process.

Therefore, in the process of perm and hair dyeing, the above factors will damage the hair. The surface of the hair is covered with fur. The small skin of normal hair is like a fish scale (or imbricate), which covers the surface of the hair stem in parallel and order to protect the integrity of the hair. Any external stimulation will first cause damage to the hair and skin. The hair cuticle of normal hair is complete in shape, closely fitting with the hair stem, and the free edge of the hair cuticle is smooth, like a fish scale. After scalding and dyeing, the hair small skin is cocked up, and there is a phenomenon of de adhesion. The edges of some hair small skin are slightly curled or serrated.
